Boost a Festival Energetically and Manage Kamo Shabu Restaurant Elegantly

A four-minute walk from the south exit of Tachikawa station, you will find a Izakaya restaurant which is popular for Kamo Shabu, Shabu-Shabu with duck meat. What makes this place so attractive? Mr. Seiya Morita, an owner of the restaurant will introduce you the reason behind this popularity.

A single piece of wooden table and a white wood interior create a comfy and at-home atmosphere. Decoration of Omikoshi and Keshodana creates a festival-like atmosphere, which is a theme of the restaurant.

Duck meat is known for antiaging beauty meat. Enjoy the meat with Shabu-Shab. The soup made of duck skin and seaweed is so delicious.

Mr. Morita, an owner of the restaurant, and Mrs. Ayaka, his wife, are running the restaurant together.

Mr. Morita was born and raised in Tachikawa. He used to work at a Yakitori restaurant and made up his mind that he would open his own restaurant by the age of 30. In 2018 he did as he said.
He decided to open his restaurant serving Duck shabu because no other restaurant in Tachikawa serving the one. The restaurant serves sashimi, small dishes and seasonal sake as well. He named the restaurant “Katsugiya”, because he likes festival very much and has carried Omikoshi before. He really loves the city he grew up. In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic of 2020, a festival of Suwa Shrine in Tachikawa was cancelled. He decided to have a small festival for local kids with other local members. They raised money by crowdfunding. With supports from many other local stores, they prepared original festival items, such as Golden fish, Shateki, Yoyo and Yakisoba noodle and ice shaves. They made it! His vitality and the sense of humor are building a good relationship.
He hopes to open one more restaurant in Tachikawa and one in overseas. We hope his dream will come true.
