Do you know that there is a bakery popular for freshly baked paninis and hard bread? The very popular bakery stands near Shibasaki-Taiikukan station on the Tama Monorail Line. It was a sunny day, so I enjoyed the walk to the bakery from JR Tachikawa station.
Wow, what a stylish bakery it is! The bakery is like a vintage storage. You can buy your favorite bread and drinks and enjoy them on benches outside.
Mr. Yousuke Takanami is the owner of the bakery and Ms. Reika Kaku is the shop staff member. Their simple-colored uniform matches the interior of the shop.
Mr. Takanami bakes several kinds of bread at the same time. “Bread dough is a living thing”, he said. He didn’t stop cooking during the interview.
At 11:00, the bakery opens. Varieties of bread and panini are on bread trays. Twenty-five to thirty kinds of bread are ready every day. Delivery service to the neighborhood on rainy days is also available.
Eight kinds of panini: From the top left, a ginger-flavor homemade cutlet and apple compote panini (680 yen with tax included), a shrimp and avocado with honey and white soy sauce and honey mustard panini (630 yen with tax included), and a homemade smoked chicken with lemon tartar sauce panini (680 yen with tax included)
Loro is a sister shop of “sov.”, a very popular cafe in the south exit of Tachikawa station. The shop opened in September 2021. Lolo means “chatty girl” in Spanish. Mr. Takanami wants the shop to be loved by many children. As he wishes, in the evening, children come with their mothers. They say, “Please give me a long bread!” and buy a baguette.
Mr. Takanami, who studied engineering and science at college, is talented in baking bread and makes many unique and delicious breads. He said, “I haven’t baked bread for eight years since I studied it in a cooking school.” The signature panini is made with the image of an appetizer dish that goes well with alcoholic beverages. It is also very satisfying in volume. One of their specialties is that they use different flours for different breads. They come up with a new menu once a month. Leftover bread is offered at the affiliated café, so there is almost no food loss. “I am sure that our customers will find our bread unique and delectable.” During the interview, a timer rang telling him the bread was ready.
