A bistro-style restaurant is located along the street from the south exit of Tachikawa Station, drawing visitors in with its classic ambiance. Enjoy authentic French cuisine and wine in a relaxed, casual setting. Let’s step inside and experience it!
The stylish gray-toned exterior stands out. Seeing the wide variety of menu items on a blackboard, customers feel their appetite grow and look forward to the meal.
The wooden furniture inside creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. The soft glow of pendant lights enhances the comfort even more. How wonderful it is to feel relaxed in such a restaurant, where you can enjoy a casual dining experience!
The charcuterie platter is ¥2,500 (serves two, tax included). From the top left in the photo, it features four exquisite selections: homemade jambon blanc (roast ham), the classic pâté de campagne, galantine with a refreshing onion and pickle ravigote sauce, and a rich liver mousse. For wine pairings, from the left, Trebbiolo Rosso for ¥1,300 and Juan Gil Silver Label for ¥1,100 (All prices include tax.)
Please check the blackboard if you wish to order from the à la carte menu. You’ll find dishes featuring seasonal ingredients. Today’s specialty is prepared based on the number of customers and is priced at ¥5,500 per person.
A team of young and talented 20-year-old staff members brings vibrancy and freshness to the atmosphere. The restaurant is owned by Kosuke Nojo, with chefs Eiji Akamine and Ryotaro Ishii leading the kitchen.
Bistro Flat opened in 2011 with the concept of offering an authentic French dining experience in a cozy, casual setting. “I keep in mind to serve customers in a relaxed manner so they can feel at ease. If our service is too formal, it might make them uncomfortable,” says Nojo-san.
Tachikawa is not a bustling city, making it a place where people can slow down and unwind. “We want to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our customers. This is the essence of omotenashi (Japanese hospitality),” he adds.
The restaurant attracts a diverse range of guests, from groups of women enjoying parties to couples on dates and business professionals visiting on weekends.
The menu features classic dishes such as Rossini, along with a variety of seasonal dishes. The seasonal menu changes every one to two months. Nojo-san occasionally advises Chef Akamine on ingredient selection. They aim to update the menu more frequently to offer customers a wider variety of dishes.
Visitors can look forward to discovering new dishes on the menu board each time they visit. A glass of wine starts at ¥800, so please enjoy a drink with your meal. “For wine pairings, feel free to ask me,” Nojo-san says with a smile.
Their dedication to heartfelt service and their continuous pursuit of excellence in cuisine attract many customers.
